AttraversaMenti, the new solo exhibition by Federico Garibaldi, is structured in four sections – Le spiagge degli altri, blueShores, Through, NowHere/NoWhere – and presents a selection of works that explore the photographer’s visual research. From dreamlike and suspended beaches to introspective landscapes, from abstract compositions to images that blur the boundaries between reality and perception, the exhibition invites viewers into a suspended space between personal memory and universal suggestion. It is part of the vibrant program of photography exhibitions in Venice 2025, contributing to the ongoing dialogue around photography as an artistic and introspective language.
Garibaldi’s photographs are defined by surreal perspectives and fluid compositions, born of a constant experimentation between art and interpretation, and distinguished by a strong autobiographical element. Nothing is left to chance: each image is the result of a deliberate staging, where sensitivity to light and the search for new viewpoints merge into a narrative that is both personal and universal. In this sense, AttraversaMenti stands out among Venice photography exhibitions for its ability to combine technique, vision, and reflection on identity.
Born in Chiavari, Federico Garibaldi has developed an artistic career that has led him to exhibit in prestigious venues in Italy and abroad, including Triennale Milano, the Luo Qi Museum in Hangzhou, the Duomo of Massa, Palazzo dei Giureconsulti in Milan, and the Venice Biennale. His work extends into video and NFTs, with international recognition such as the Silver Dolphin at the Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards. With this new Venetian showcase, Garibaldi confirms his role as a prominent figure in photographic exhibitions that explore the limits of image and perception.
As curator Denis Curti notes, "The images Federico Garibaldi presents originate from a search for surreal perspectives and angles. These are fluid compositions, necessary to his narrative freedom. Each frame appears as the product of a meeting between art and interpretation – something far from reality, as Federico’s world is viewed through a lens that might best be described as a constant crossing. [...] His is a psychedelic journey through the complex perceptual condition that has always accompanied his vision. The veiled images are, in fact, self-portraits. The timeless landscapes are his memory. The abstract images are sensations transformed into feelings and desires."
Part of the official program of Venice exhibitions 2025, AttraversaMenti is hosted at Le Stanze della Fotografia, a venue dedicated to visual culture in the heart of Venice. The exhibition is an ideal opportunity for visitors looking to explore contemporary photography and experience one of the most original photo exhibitions of the year. We invite you to discover the evocative world of Federico Garibaldi, where art, memory, and perception merge into a powerful visual journey.
